That summer went fast…Colorado, dancing poets, an abundance of ALFs, mountains, paint, scaffolding, writing, music…It was fantastic. I’m excited to have a regular rhythm to my weeks again, though. And to be back with our spectacular young people.
Monday and Tuesday, Ryan and I were in the space to get it cleaned up. We were by ourselves Monday, then Tuesday we had more friends/help. Hung white boards. Stacked books. Drew kanbans. Got ready.
School started on Wednesday, with hellos and hugs before our first Set-the-Week meeting of the year. There are five new kids (to our 13 total students), and a few of them are pretty young. So the first week was bursting with little kid energy, new kid energy, and nomadic ALFs visiting and bringing other visitors…plus our joy at seeing each other after a long break.
This week I hung out in Central Park, learned to monoprint (thanks, David!), played Werewolves and didn’t die right away, cooked for the community potluck, had a bunch of meetings, gathered and sorted paperwork and did other administrative things, participated in @agilealfie’s yoga class, started a new MM game with @thewitchqueen908, co-ran an assembly meeting, read Blueprint for Revolution, watched Monty Python and the Holy Grain, started planning a trip to Wisconsin with @douglasawesome, listened to @douglasawesome and @failspy do some business consulting for a friend of mine, helped new students register on the website and blog alongside @jacobcb, and ended the week delightfully exhausted.
Here’s to a new year!
