I spent a lot of time outside this week. On Tuesday, I went to Central Park with @douglasawesome and @failspy to play improv games all morning. On Wednesday, I gave @lillaw and @failspy a map of Red Hook and told them I’d meet them at Steve’s Authentic Key Lime Pies. They met @agilealfie and Chris by Ikea (which they got to all by themselves!!!) and then came to meet me. I had discovered a mulberry tree and some sweet graffiti on my walk, and I waited for them at Valentino Park. I thought they would adventure around Red Hook and then come to meet me, so I brought the book I’m currently enjoying–Honoring the Medicine–and prepare to hang in the park for an hour or two. Just minutes after I opened my book, I got a text from Javair that they were waiting for me inside Steve’s. Of course. They decided to do dessert first.
On the one hand, I had wanted them to discover the nifty corners of the neighborhood on their own…but on the other hand, I’m always excited for the opportunity to go exploring with them and witness their moments of revelation. We hung by the water, climbed some rocks, ran in a park, climbed trees, picked mulberries, and ate wonderful Key Lime Pie. And sang a lot of Into The Woods (thanks @lillaw!).
Other happenings this week have included practicing an acrobalance routine to share with families at the picnic next week, lots of reading and drawing, some storytelling, an assembly meeting, and trying to finish the work for my MOOC (@douglasawesome, can you believe it’s the last week?!?).
I’ve been trying to do way too much this week, so I’m a bit sleepy right now. Excited to curl up under a tree with my book after the day ends.
